Maybe it already existed, in someone else's mind-- and who knows maybe they've already put a name to it... but if not, well I stake my claim on it. I even have a name for it...
The North American
2 slices American cheese
1-2 tbsps. Salsa
2 slices Canadian Bacon
2 slices bread
butter or margarine
Spread salsa liberally on both slices of bread, add 1 slice American cheese. Lightly grill the Canadian bacon until lightly browned on each side, put both slices in the sandwich followed by the other slice of cheese. Add top slice of bread, salsa side down. lightly butter outside of bread, place on grill/frying pan butter side down, lightly butter bread on top. Grill on low to medium heat until bread is lightly browned, flip and brown other side of the sandwich. Serve and enjoy.

Sounds interesting. Canadian bacon is good stuff.
Oh, does the salsa sometimes cross over the border onto the American bread?
Yes and the salsa is stolen, so it's on the bread illegally. ;-)
I'll try this if you try my pickle, peanut butter and mayo sandwich.
In my case, it would be called the Artery Clogger...
Be careful with your recipes. Margarine is now contraband in NY. You could be found guilty of providing subversive information to the unsuspecting public or even acts of culinary terrorism ;)
