Favorite Driving Songs (snarfed from Barbara)

What are your top five favorite songs to drive to?

You know what I mean, when they come on the car radio you just get into it and kind of groove and sing along as you drive.

Currently, my top 5 include
5. Switch 625 - Def Leppard
4. All My Life - Foo Fighters
3. Bad Habit - Offspring
2. Sure You Will - OSI (actually their entire Free album)
1. One - Fates Warning (the entire Disconnected album is pretty solid, though)

Past favorites and honorable mentions include:
Radar Love and Twilight Zone by Golden Earring, Ytse Jam by Dream Theater, Another Permanent Address by Chroma Key, Kashmir (Led Zep cover) by Kevin Gilbert, REO Speedwagon's entire 1970 debut album, Point of Know Return by Kansas, Wang Dang Sweet Poon Tang by Ted Nugent, Kiss My Ass by Ted Nugent, Gel by Collective Soul, Banditos by the Refreshments, and the Verve Pipe's entire Underneath album.

I have to keep a close eye on the speedometer when listening to Radar Love or I can't drive 55 by Sammy Hagar.

Great question. My husband has been threatening to sign me up for that show "Motormouth," where they put a camera in your car to record how awful you sound when you sing in the car.

If I know the lyrics, I sing the song, whether I like it or not.

But, I have to admit, that the Men at Work album always gets me up and driving. That an CCR for some reason....

I like Paint it Black for the open road.

Good topic! Here are mine:
"A Day in the Life" The Beatles ~ this song blends the best aspects of Lennon and McCartney and was an actual collaboration (as opposed to just a credit share).
“Deacon Blues” Steely Dan ~ Ever “drink scotch whiskey all night long”?
“Comfortably Numb” Pink Floyd ~ Great lyrics and guitar solo.
“Tangled Up in Blue” Bob Dylan
“Red Rain” Peter Gabriel

Now how ‘bout the top five Disco songs :)

Bruce: Excellent choices. In the same vein as SRV, and I don't know how I forgot this, I would include anything by George Thorogood and the Destroyers!

Susan: As much as I like Queen, I don't care for them as "road music"-- GnR on the other hand, I must concur-- just about anything off of Appetite For Destruction is appropriate for driving to.

Green Eyes: I know-- so much great music to choose from, such a short list!

Fuzz: I can't blame you.

leazwell: cool selection.

Keshi: Indeed I am a music buff!

curare_z: Men At Work are awesome. Overkill is a fave of mine in ANY setting!

Phoenix: Jump is a classic driving song!

Snooze: I know it's sacrilege to say this, but I've never much cared for the Stones-- BUT I do like Paint it Black

Godwhacker: All excellent choices, but the disco list is a rather tall order!

Hmmm ... just to paint myself as a complete and utter geek, I should preface this by saying I usually listen to classical music. However, these songs never fail to get my motor running:

In no particular order:
1. It's the End of the World - R.E.M.
2. The Man who Sold the World - Nirvana ("Unplugged" album)
3. Past the Mission - Tori Amos
4. Istanbul (not Constantinople) - They Might be Giants
5. My Music at Work - The Tragically Hip
